Proposed digital-twin consultation for a municipal wastewater plant, subject to confirmation of the treatment process, data and application scope.
Project Background
The project concerns digital-twin technical consulting for a municipal wastewater treatment plant with a minimum client-supplied design basis of 100,000 m³/d. The existing or proposed treatment process, influent characteristics, instrumentation, historical operating data, automation architecture, digital-twin objectives, discharge requirements and delivery scope remain to be confirmed before detailed modelling and implementation planning.
Our Solution
We propose a phased digital-twin solution beginning with data governance and a verified site model, followed by mechanistic and data-driven representation of the selected wastewater process. Hydraulic, biological, aeration, filtration and sludge-handling modules will be configured only after the process and design basis are confirmed. Instrumentation and laboratory results will support model calibration, while dashboards, scenario testing, operational forecasting and condition-based maintenance guidance will translate data into decisions. Sludge or residual streams will be represented according to the confirmed process, including dewatering and disposal routes where applicable. The final architecture, model scope, validation plan and implementation schedule will be adjusted after receipt and review of the missing information.
What We Asked First
Please confirm the project stage, treatment process, design flow basis, influent and effluent requirements, automation and control system, available online and laboratory data, data-history duration, digital-twin objectives, required integrations, delivery format, timescale and site constraints.
Proposed Process Train
- 1Clarify design basis and digital-twin objectives
- 2Establish sensor, laboratory and operating-data framework
- 3Build calibrated process, hydraulic and biological models
- 4Configure plant dashboards, alerts and scenario testing
- 5Develop treatment optimisation and predictive-maintenance functions
- 6Extend to pilot trials and performance validation
