Proposed treatment and storage system for data centre domestic sewage intended for Type 1 irrigation reuse, subject to confirming the design basis.
Project Background
The client-supplied design basis is domestic sewage from a data centre with a nominal capacity of ~60 m³/d. The proposed treatment train is intended to support non-potable irrigation reuse. Final process sizing, disinfection criteria and treatment boundaries require confirmation of the wastewater flow basis, water quality, applicable Type 1 requirements and whether cooling-related streams are included.
Our Solution
The proposed solution uses a mechanical screen to remove gross solids, equalisation to buffer variable domestic loads, and an anoxic-aerobic biological stage to address organic matter and nutrients. MBR membrane filtration provides a solids-free reclaimed stream suitable for downstream disinfection and storage. Chlorine dioxide is proposed for final disinfection, with storage and distribution arranged for non-potable irrigation. Dewatering equipment handles settled biological excess sludge. The final configuration, capacities and equipment selection will be adjusted after the flow basis, wastewater analysis, cooling-stream boundary and applicable irrigation standard are confirmed.
What We Asked First
Please confirm whether the stated capacity is average or maximum, operating hours, peak factors and batch discharges; provide representative wastewater analysis; identify the jurisdiction and Type 1 irrigation criteria; and clarify whether cooling tower blowdown, RO concentrate or cleaning wastewater are included.
