The ZS Series Chlorine Dioxide Generator produces high-purity ClO₂ disinfectant on-site using proven chemical or electrolytic methods. Available in eight configurations — from compact manual units (50 g/h) to fully automated industrial systems (20,000 g/h) — these generators deliver reliable microbial control for municipal drinking water, hospital effluent, industrial cooling loops, and process wastewater. Compliant with EPA, EU Drinking Water Directive 98/83/EC, and WHO Guidelines for Drinking-water Quality.
Zhongsheng Environmental's ZS Series Chlorine Dioxide Generators provide a safe, efficient, and cost-effective solution for on-site production of ClO₂ — one of the most powerful oxidizing disinfectants available. Using a negative-pressure aeration process with sodium chlorate and hydrochloric acid, these systems generate a precisely controlled ClO₂/Cl₂ mixed solution that eliminates bacteria, viruses, and biofilm without producing harmful trihalomethanes (THMs). With eight distinct models spanning manual, semi-automatic, and fully automatic operation, the ZS Series scales from small clinics to large municipal waterworks.
The chemical-method generators operate on the principle of controlled acid–chlorate reaction under vacuum:
Chemical method: 2NaClO₃ + 4HCl → 2ClO₂ + Cl₂ + 2NaCl + 2H₂O
Sodium chlorate solution and hydrochloric acid are metered into a heated reaction chamber maintained under negative pressure by the water ejector. The resulting ClO₂-rich gas is immediately drawn into the motive water stream and delivered to the injection point. Reaction temperature, vacuum level, and chemical feed rates are precisely controlled to maximize ClO₂ yield and minimize byproducts.
Electrolytic method: 2NaCl + 3H₂O → ClO₂ + 2NaOH + H₂↑
The electrolytic variant (ZSD model) uses only common salt and water, generating ClO₂ through electrochemical conversion — ideal for remote installations where chemical supply logistics are challenging.

With eight purpose-built configurations and over a decade of field-proven performance, Zhongsheng's ZS Series ClO₂ generators offer unmatched flexibility for water and wastewater disinfection. Our high-purity ZSBG model achieves 93% conversion efficiency — among the highest in the industry — while the electrolytic ZSD model provides a chemical-free alternative using only salt and water. Every unit is engineered for safe, unattended operation with redundant safety interlocks, and backed by our global technical support team for commissioning, training, and ongoing service.
50 g/h to 20,000 g/h, covering applications from small clinics to large municipal waterworks.
Chemical method (ZSJ/ZSB/ZST) uses sodium chlorate + hydrochloric acid with 60–85% yield; electrolytic method (ZSD) uses only salt + water with 90% conversion rate — ideal for remote locations.
Chemical method: sodium chlorate (≥99%, GB/T1618-2008) and hydrochloric acid (≥31%, GB320-2006) at approximately 1:2 weight ratio. Electrolytic: sodium chloride (table salt) only, consuming 1.3g NaCl per gram of effective chlorine.
Yes, negative-pressure design prevents gas leakage; PLC automation with safety interlocks; no bulk chemical storage required.
